Have you been to the Zoo?

Have you
Been to the Zoo
Seen a giraffe and a kangaroo
Watched the koalas climb trees
The impalas
Look back from their cages at you?

Did you
See a gazelle?
Elegant mover but terrible smell
Tigers are scary
The monkeys are hairy
And humpety camels are smelly as well

Did you
Ride on a horse?
Bigger than donkeys, and smarter of course
See oxen grazing
An elephant lazing
Then roar with a terrible force

If you
Go there again
Watch alligators in their special pen
See the gorilla, an obvious thriller
Then lions prowl round in their den

Next time
You’re in a Zoo
See a rhinoceros, view a gnu
Watch the flamingos
The bison and dingos
Then spy an anteater or two?

When you
Plan to go there
Meet a nice penguin, a zebra or bear
Tell a bald eagle
It looks very regal
Inform a black panther you care

Will you
Come back with me?
See the chimps sitting and having their tea
Watch a stray gander
Confuse a young panda
While hyenas laugh helplessly
